Six Non-Traditional Thanksgiving Pies

Vaughn Vreeland from New York Times Cooking is back with his six cozy, chic Thanksgiving pies that are sure to stun at your Thanksgiving table this year.

These are my six Thanksgiving pies that are twists on your classic fall flavors. This is the cranberry citrus meringue pie. It’s very delicious. It’s for all the tart pie lovers out there. You know the people who pick Sour Patch Kids at the movie theater? That’s the kind of person that’s going to love this pie. The sesame-swirled pumpkin pie is for someone who doesn’t love sweets that much. The sesame adds these really great savory notes that are sure to please a lot of those skeptics among us. The coffee and maple chess pie, I think, is for the person who loves to eat pie for breakfast. Honestly, it tastes just like pancakes and coffee. It is perfect. Honestly, any time of day, but especially for breakfast. The butterscotch banana cream pie with pistachios is for that sweet and salty tooth. This is for the boozy dessert lovers, and for those people who need a little bit extra to make it through the holidays, if you know what I mean. The coconut caramel tart is for the person who keeps Girl Scout cookies in their freezer all year long. It is basically a giant Girl Scout cookie. And it’s for that person who’s just really in touch with their inner child. The pomegranate cardamom apple pie, I think is for the person who loves classics, but are craving a little bit of a twist. When you dig down deep, they’re a little feisty.
